About the Book Review Editor (2019- )

matt miller 500pxOur book review editor, Matthew Lee Miller, is Professor of History at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is the author of The American YMCA and Russian Culture: The Preservation and Expansion of Orthodox Christianity, 1900-1940 (Lexington Books, 2013) and editor of John R. Mott, the American YMCA, and Revolutionary Russia (Slavica Publishers/Indiana University, 2020).

After receiving his BA from Miami University and MA from Wheaton College, Illinois, Dr. Miller earned his PhD in modern Russian and European history from the University of Minnesota. In 1990 and 1991 he experienced the final months of the Soviet Union while living in Leningrad. From 1997 to 2008 he lived with his family in Moscow, serving with the Russian-American Christian University and the Evangelical Free Church.

Dr. YMCA in RussiaMiller is completing a biography of Paul B. Anderson (1894-1985), a dedicated advocate for Orthodox Christians who supported the YMCA Press, the Russian Student Christian Movement, and the St. Sergius Theological Academy in Paris.
